Tell us about yourself!

Hi! My name is Sarika and I’m an influencer and bridal stylist based in NYC. I focus on creating and sharing fashion, wellness, and beauty content as well as my travel diaries and pieces of my life (i.e., snippets of my NYC apartment and Indian culture :)).

How would you describe your design style?

My design style is a blend of mid century modern designs and chic New York City elements. It’s a cool-girl, conscious space but full of colorful art and decor items. I love adding nods of my Indian culture like the pichwai painting above my sofa. I like the idea of being a conscious maximalist and that really reflects in my interior design choices

You recently added the Slipcovered Cab Sofa to your New York apartment! Walk us through the design process and how you selected the piece.

Our New York apartment is a really beautiful, gallery like space with high ceilings and black steel floor-to-ceiling windows in each room. My husband and I wanted to make sure our space felt like a solace from the busy city while still reflecting us, so we chose a comfy, yet structured sofa that would blend seamlessly with the rest of the space.

Coley Home sent over 6 swatches of potential upholstery options that we tested at various times of the day to take into consideration how it would reflect or absorb the daylight. In the end, we chose the ‘Casual’ fabric in ivory. It’s a timeless color we know will go with us to our next home.

Favorite places to save, and favorite places to splurge when it comes to interiors?

My favorite place to save on interiors is rugs! Although I’d love a few handwoven Moroccan or Persian rug in my forever home, it’s not practical in an apartment! Especially while hosting for dinner parties and game nights without a formal dining room :)

My favorite place to splurge is the main furniture (seating!). Again, especially in an apartment because the comfort and durability of the sofa and/or armchairs will make or break so many experiences from work from home days to lounging to hosting friends. Who wants an uncomfy movie night?!

What is one of the most inspiring places you’ve visited when it comes to design?

This would have to be a tie between Mexico City and Jaipur! I love modern Mexican design and always pick up pieces for our home whenever we visit. Jaipur is any design lover’s ideal destination. The colors, intricate facades, and craftsmanship at every corner is so inspiring and will leave you in awe every time.

Your wedding was featured in VOGUE! If you had to choose, which of the festivities was your very favorite.

Our wedding was such a whirlwind of a week! I suppose my favorite event had to be the Sangeet. It was held at the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami, Florida. Beyond the beautiful venue, it was the first event both sides attended as our previous events (the henna night and haldi ceremony) were held separately at our respective family homes in Tampa.

Favorite coffee table book?

My Jaipur Splendor Assouline by Mozez Singh.

TV show or book you’re into at the moment?

I’m currently reading “All About Love” by Bell Hooks. I also just finished watching “Big Little Lies”!

Dream Travel Destination?

A tie between Japan and Morocco! Two very different vibes, yes, but two places I have not yet visited and have been dreaming about for some time :)
