Coley Home Spotlight: Huff Harrington Design

Meet the creatives behind Huff Harrington Design! Recently featured in The Atlanta Home For The Holidays Show House, we adore their fresh yet traditional spaces. They masterfully blend the old with the new and we love following along to see what they're designing next. Read on to see how they styled their Coley Home piece in the show house. Tell us about yourselves & how you got to where you are today!  Trudy was born and raised in Piqua, Ohio, though people are often surprised I’m not a born and bred Southern belle. I currently lead Huff Harrington Design as Lead Designer, where I bring a refined design sensibility, thoughtful approach, and a little optimism to every project. Before fully stepping into interiors, I honed my spacial design skills through l leadership roles with brands including Gap, Spanx, and Serena & Lily. Frequent trips to France – where I assist with international design projects and installations – have shaped my signature approach: blending old and new with a playful, unexpected twist. Outside the office, you’ll often find me strolling Chastain Park with my handsome Lab, Beau, or enjoying a lively dinner out with my husband, glass of bubbly in hand. Emma Caroline Lee has spent years with Huff Harrington honing her eye through countless design projects. Prior to that she tackled the world of luxury PR launching fine art, fashion and hospitality brands in Atlanta. While her heart lies with traditional themes she loves to create a mix and to elevate designs through fabrics and custom pieces, building a story around our clients’ existing furnishings. Her love of classic and traditional design is a perfect complement to the Huff Harrington mix of antique and modern. When she’s not designing, you can find her spending time with her adorable young family or traveling. One of the most meaningful parts of our work is connecting with clients. We take the time to really listen, understand their stories and the pieces they love, and translate their vision into spaces that feel personal, sophisticated, and always chic. You recently selected 2 Twin Claremont Beds - Charles with a fabulous brushed fringe. Walk us through the design process! One of the elements that grounded the design of the room from the very beginning was a fabulous imported antique settee we found in the South of France. Its sassy curves immediately set the tone, so it was important for us to find bed frames that echoed that curvy softness – the Charles did just that. As with any successful space, the devil is in the details. We had the most fun marrying the bed frames and settee through coordinating fabrics - ultimately choosing a stripe for the beds to bring in a tailored note. To soften the structured stripe - and of course adding a touch of unexpectedness - we finished the headboards with a brushed fringe trim from Samuel & Sons. Layered against the Farrow & Ball high-gloss walls, the subtle movement and texture was the perfect final touch, elevating the beds while tying the entire room together beautifully.  The Claremont bed - Charles How would you describe your style? Classic at its core, with a deep reverence for both contemporary and antique influences.  You have a design branch in both Atlanta and Paris. Do you often try to incorporate European influences throughout your design projects in the US?  It truly works both ways – we’re constantly inspired by both sides of the pond. That said, there’s something especially compelling about incorporating a piece of French history into our state-side projects. A beautiful European antique has an effortless way of adding depth, soul and a bit of “crunch” when layered into a modern or traditional home. We always aim for a home that feels classic and lived-in.   If you had to pick one, what is your favorite project to date?    That’s a difficult question, as each project is deeply personal to each client. Knowing their story, understanding the heirlooms they cherish, and creating designs that reflect their lives make every project meaningful in its own way. What aspect of Parisian lifestyle do you adopt in your everyday life?   I’ve always admired the ease of the French lifestyle – lingering over meals, choosing quality over quantity, and treating everyday rituals as small indulgences. And of course, there’s the skincare… a daily reminder that a good cream can, in fact, solve almost everything!  What’s a wallpaper or fabric you are dying to use in a project?  Tough question because there are so many that are on our radar but I recently stumbled across the most adorable wallpaper by Jordan Connelly  that would be the perfect addition to a  family vacation home. Favorite coffee table book? Well, at the moment , we are gushing over the most recent Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle magazine because Huff Harrington Design made the cover! What is your most requested design feature?   ‘The Mix’ of new  & old The mix – layering new with old to create spaces that feel collected, not decorated. It’s about balancing contemporary pieces with character-rich antiques to achieve spaces that are timeless, personal, and truly lived-in.

Coley Home Spotlight: Megan Molten

Meet Megan! Based in Charleston, SC, she's the Founder and Chief Creative Director of Megan Molten Design + Shop. With her signature mix of modern flair and Southern charm, Megan creates bright, welcoming spaces that feel like home. We’re obsessed with her eye for detail and love how she brought her Coley Home favorites to life in her serene, family-friendly living room. Tell us about yourself and your journey to a successful interior design business and storefront! I studied business and marketing in school and, right out of college, landed a great job in medical sales. I spent 12 years in that industry, which gave me the opportunity to purchase my first home on my own. When I started designing and decorating my home, I shared the process on social media, and to my surprise, people loved it! I never realized I had a distinct style until I started receiving such a positive response. Around that time—when I was 31 or 32—many of my friends were also buying their first homes and asking for my help. We were all working with tight budgets, but I documented every project, sharing before-and-afters on social media. Again, people really responded to my aesthetic, and that’s when it started to click for me—I truly loved design. I never imagined it would become my career, but as I started taking on paid clients in addition to my full-time job, I realized: Wait, this is what I love. My corporate job? Not so much. I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time. Charleston was booming, especially during COVID, and people were moving here in droves. I was able to establish a strong brand and a signature design aesthetic, which has been key to our success. It’s authentic to who I am and what we do, and I think people are drawn to that. Today, we have a luxury interior design business serving Charleston and beyond, as well as a retail store—both a brick-and-mortar location and an online shop. We’ve also expanded to include a warehouse where we manage our online store and house merchandise for our design clients. And beyond that, we have licensed collections in lighting, mirrors, wallpaper, and more to come! What’s your starting point when designing a living room? Do you typically begin with furniture, color, or something else? Lately, we’ve been starting with wallpaper, paint, or a fabric print because clients are craving color more than ever. Once we establish that focal point, the rest of the room naturally falls into place. How do you find the balance between aesthetics and functionality when designing frequently used spaces like living rooms? These days, performance fabric is a must. Almost all of our clients expect it on their upholstery—it’s just become standard. The great thing about working with a designer is that we have access to an incredible variety of high-end performance fabrics that aren’t available to the average consumer. So, we can create spaces that are both beautiful and incredibly durable. Our clients have kids, grandkids, pets—they live an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, especially here in Charleston. Everything we design has to stand up to that while still looking stunning. It’s all about finding that perfect balance of style and function. What is one design element or trend you always try to incorporate into your projects, no matter the size or scope? When clients hire us, they expect creativity and personalization. It’s our job to push them beyond their comfort zone and introduce ideas they wouldn’t have considered on their own. That’s part of the value we bring! We don’t want to do what everyone else is doing—we want to create something fresh, unique, and exciting. What are your favorite areas to splurge when decorating your home, and favorite places to save? Lighting—splurge always! It’s like jewelry for your home. You want the real thing, not the knockoff. There’s a noticeable difference between good lighting and bad lighting, and if you cut corners here, it shows. For key spaces like kitchen pendants, dining room chandeliers, and powder bath sconces, invest in high-quality lighting—it makes all the difference. But in areas like guest rooms, guest baths, and kids’ rooms, you can save by opting for stylish but more affordable options, like Mitzi lighting. Another area where you should never skimp? Upholstery. Your main furniture pieces—your sofa, your chairs—these are things you use every single day. It’s like a mattress; you want it to be high quality, comfortable, and built to last. Other categories can go either way. With wallpaper, for example, you can splurge on grasscloth or save with vinyl. For rugs, wool is a luxury option, but polypropylene can be a great budget-friendly alternative. It’s all about knowing where to invest and where to cut costs. What are your go-to places for inspiration when designing new spaces? Our sample library is a huge source of inspiration. We receive so many incredible materials—wallpapers, fabrics, finishes—and we’re always waiting for the perfect project to use them in. I also love drawing inspiration from a project’s location. For example, if we’re designing a home in the Bahamas, we take in the colors of the palm leaves, the ocean, the sand, and think, Oh my gosh, this is the perfect project for that lime-green palm print wallpaper we’ve been dying to use! Color is such a huge part of our design process, especially in Charleston, but exploring other places and seeing how different environments influence color is a really fun way to get inspired. What are your favorite Coley Home pieces to incorporate in a living room? The Upholstered Bennett Sofa—hands down! We’re actually using it in a project right now with Lilly Pulitzer and Lee Jofa. It’s upholstered in the new Lilly fabric, and we added the cutest little skirt to give it a fresh, modern take on a traditional shape. It’s perfection. I also love the Loza Chair. We’ve used it in a few projects now—it’s big, cozy, and oversized but still has that modern silhouette. That’s what I love about Coley Home—they take classic shapes and reimagine them in a fresh, modern way. Plus, everything is made in North Carolina, which our clients love.

Coley Home Spotlight: Caroline Boykin

Meet Caroline! Based out of Raleigh, NC, Caroline creates the most incredible artwork, from intricate paintings to delicate sculptures. Read on to learn all about Caroline and how she styled her Coley Home pieces. Tell us about yourself and how you got to where you are today! Hey Coley Home! I am Caroline Reehl Boykin, a fine artist based in Raleigh, North Carolina and my work is inspired by the spirit of everyday life. For the past 15 years I have had the honor of creating artwork for clients all over the world. My paintings are filled with elements of nature, architecture, and form using many mediums. I find that unique color interactions within my paintings capture viewers and bring them into a conversation of life and movement. Through the use of porcelain, acrylic paint, and gold and silver leaf, I paint multi-dimensional works that transcend a subject and allow the viewer to decipher meaning. I have always loved to create. My childhood on the Alabama coast cultivated my enchantment with art and southern culture. Touches of this admiration for Southern hospitality and grandeur are seen today flowing through my paintings. While in college, a summer of studying figure drawing in Florence, Italy led me to the realization that being an artist was in my bones. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Mississippi (Hotty Toddy!!) where I focused on ceramics, but I have always had a true passion for all mediums in art. Today I am blessed to have my studio right here in my home so that I can jump between businesswoman and momma easily. My husband, two girls, and bulldog, Blue, provide me with as much support as they do inspiration to my paintings! Caroline's Website How would you describe your artistic style in your own words? My work is rooted in the rituals of everyday life - morning light, the scent and shapes of flowers from our garden, my girls' infectious giggles, or an ice-cold martini my husband makes me after a long week. These moments are sacred rhythms woven into my paintings. I think my artistic style is a nice combination of Modern and Feminine. How do you approach mixing color and texture in your pieces? Color and texture are such important aspects of my work! In my Le Pointe collection, mixed color combinations are the foundation and the starting point of each painting. Once the squares of color are chosen for the painting, I then come back with more colors but in small marks to create a dance between the squares. When mixing the paint for these marks, I whip my paint to a frosting-like consistency to create little dots of texture. This mesmerizing texture creates the smallest shadows that move throughout the day as light moves across the painting. Caroline used a pair of Bongo Stools in COM (Customer's Own Material) to create the perfect accent pieces for her living room! Where do you personally look for inspiration? Everywhere! Small and simple moments inspire me most as of late. There is beauty surrounding us always, we just have to take the time to find it. This is what I want the viewer to feel when taking in my artwork. To admire the painting with an exhale and to get lost in a memory. I find myself within each scene of my Pout paintings. Do you have any tips for mixing art with furniture and decor in a room? My only tip is to purchase art that you love, and not just because it matches your couch! I find a home much more inviting and beautiful when it is filled with interesting art. What are your favorite areas to splurge when decorating your home, and favorite places to save? My favorite places to splurge and save are the same - antiques! Sometimes you find the save of the century in an antique chandelier or the biggest splurge in an antique Klimt sofa. Whether a splurge or a save, antiques are always necessary. Is there anything more fun than the thrill of the hunt? Most treasured piece in your home (besides your own art)? We have the cover of my great grandmother's bible framed and hung in our kitchen. My great grandmother Leavie, whom my oldest is named after, was born in the late 1800s and I inherited her bible which was so loved and used that it was held together by duct tape. We (very carefully!) took off the cover that is inscribed with her name and framed it in a gorgeous antique frame. It brings me so much joy to see it every day, a sweet reminder of my beloved family and what a matriarch looks like. What is your favorite spring or summer recipe? Food or cocktail! So many! We love to eat in my house! In the spring and summer, it’s anything made with in-season produce from our local Farmer's Market. We also love a skinny Piña Colada for a fun cocktail/mocktail around the pool. It's just blended coconut water, a little pineapple juice, pineapple chunks, and ice. When my girls aren't partaking, a splash of rum makes it even tastier! Thanks, Caroline!

I always have sunglasses, my wallet, a lipgloss and a few extra pacifiers in my bag to get me through the day.  Favorite winter/cold weather recipe (dish or cocktail, your choice!) Meet Jamie Kirkman, founder of Jamie Kirkman Interiors! Jamie takes a pragmatic and creative approach to her designs, incorporating custom furnishings, special collections, and curated art. With over 25 years of experience, Jamie has perfected her design techniques and was recently featured in the Atlanta Home For The Holidays Show house. She featured Coley Home chairs in the dining room and we are obsessed with how they turned out! Read on to see how she styled her Coley Home pieces in the show house. Tell us about yourselves & how you got to where you are today! I've always been drawn to creating spaces that feel both beautiful and lived in, and my path into interior design began through hands-on learning and mentorship. Today, my approach is all about understanding my client and their personalities, how they move through their homes, and what matters most to them. I believe the best design reflects who you are while elevating your everyday life. I feel incredibly fortunate to do work I'm passionate about alongside clients who trust me with their most personal spaces. You recently selected (6) Evans Dining Chairs in COM with Mont Blanc, Blush Welt, and Bleached Oak Finish, as well as (2) Evans Dining Chairs in Miller, Taupe with a Mont Blanc, Blush welt, and Bleached Oak Finish for your Dining Space in the Atlanta Home for the Holidays Showhouse. Walk us through the design process!  The lines of the Evans chairs were exactly what I wanted for the showhouse dining chairs. We then selected fabrics that could stand out against other beautiful features in the room while complementing the chairs' style. The geometric pattern on the COM chairs worked perfectly with the small scale of Miller Taupe, while the Blush Welt tied the chairs together to create a cohesive design. The Evans Dining Chair - COM The evans dining chair - Miller, Taupe with a Mont Blanc, Blush welt Do you have any tips for selecting the perfect COM for a space?  When choosing COM fabrics, I focus on the room's function first, selecting options that are both beautiful and durable enough for daily use, helping clients find something they truly love and that suits their lifestyle. How would you describe your style?  I'd describe my style as refined organic luxury. I love layering natural elements like wood, stone, and greenery with sophisticated details like brass fixtures and sculptural lighting. I aim for spaces that feel both curated and livable, while reflecting the client’s personality and lifestyle. What is the most important detail when designing a dining room? Lighting is everything. It sets the entire mood for gathering and entertaining. Beautiful ambient lighting that makes everyone look and feel their best. The table should allow for comfortable conversation with chairs that are comfortable enough that guests actually want to sit in for hours, and the overall space should encourage people to linger and feel the atmosphere. What is your favorite space that you have designed in your personal home?  I love our primary bedroom. It's calming and restorative, designed as a true sanctuary with minimal furnishings and a soft, soothing palette. What are your go to places for inspiration when designing a new space? I love flipping through design books and following European interiors on Instagram for fresh perspectives. What is your favorite coffee table book? John Derian Picture Book There's something about his eye for beauty in the overlooked that really resonates with me. Thank you, Jamie!

Meet Jamie Kirkman, founder of Jamie Kirkman Interiors!

Coley Home Spotlight: Cathy Rhodes Interiors

Meet Cathy Rhodes of Cathy Rhodes Interiors! Cathy is a fabulous designer who was recently featured in the Atlanta Home For The Holiday’s Show house. We loved hearing about her design process and the small details she uses to make her spaces spectacular. Read on to learn how Cathy styled her Coley Home pieces!  Tell us about yourselves & how you got to where you are today! I started my design firm in 2001 and have been designing elegant homes in the southeast ever since.  With an MBA from Vanderbilt and 9 years in corporate finance I decided to turn my weekend hobby into a career. You recently selected The Claremont Bed - Monarch, the Dakota Dining Chair and The Shiitake Ottomans in your space in the Atlanta Home for the Holidays Show House. Walk us through the design process! My inspiration for this guest bedroom was my two grown daughters who now live in NYC.  Thinking about redesigning my daughter’s childhood bedrooms into more sophisticated guest bedrooms that they look forward to coming home to stay in.  I wanted to create a tranquil oasis for my daughters and other guests.. Lavender is such a calm color and is wonderful for a guest room because its somewhat unexpected.  I selected the Galbraith and Paul Fern pattern first and worked with Liz Galbraith to custom color the fabric in the perfect shades of lilac and lavender.  And then we found two other Galbraith and Paul fabrics that we could add in touches of soft greens and blues. Selecting a beautiful bed was next.  The scalloped Claremont Bed was perfect because the scallop detail added the feminine touch I was looking for.  Upholstering it in Holland Sherry’s velvet mohair gave it the coziness I envisioned.  The Dakota Dining Chair works beautifully as a desk chair.  And the Shiitake Ottomans are just fun and can go anywhere in a room.  I have used them in many clients’ homes and just love them.  They are fun at the foot of this bed but can also be pulled into a dressing room or a dressing table or used as an ottoman with your favorite reading chair. What is your favorite thing about designing for a  show house? How is it different from designing for clients? Show houses are an opportunity to truly display your creativity without any restrictions.  It's the chance to do something a little daring and unique. What is your starting point when designing a bedroom?  For a bedroom I always start with a beautiful fabric that can set the tone for the room.   What is a small detail you always include in bedrooms you design?  I always include a pretty long pillow on the bed in addition to the shams. What are your go-to places for bed linens?  Gramercy Home is my favorite.  They carry many beautiful bedding lines including Matouk and Sferra and they are so easy to work with. Where do you splurge vs. save in the bedroom? I usually splurge on the drapery and the decorative bedding because it has the biggest impact on a bedroom.  If we need to save then I like to save on the sheets by buying simple white sheets to go with the pretty decorative duvet and shams.  What is your favorite space in your home?  My favorite space in my home is my dressing hall because its my pretty little retreat from the rest of the house and I love starting my day there. What is a design trend you hope stays forever? Lucite!  I love lucite pieces because they add a modern touch when you need it to a traditional space and its the ideal material when you need something that is not too heavy and will not take away from other things in the room. Just like the lucite etagere in this guest bedroom. What is your favorite coffee table book? The Decorated Home by Meg Braff.  The photos are beautiful and the way she wrote about each project feels like you are sitting in her living room have a casual conversation about design.  She’s a great college friend of mine so I love seeing how her personality shines through in her book. Thank you, Cathy!

Coley Home Spotlight: Garden & Grace

Meet Crystal! Based in Charlotte, NC, with her husband and three children, she’s the creative behind Garden & Grace—your go-to for elegant, classic home and garden inspiration. We love her traditional yet effortless style! Read the blog to learn all about Crystal and how she styled her Coley Home pieces in her little boy's bedroom.  Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start Garden & Grace?  Hi! I’m Crystal Moore, founder of Garden & Grace, a lifestyle brand focused on classic living. My biggest joy is being a mom to three young kids and sharing this life with my high school sweetheart and husband of 10 years in our hometown of Charlotte, NC. With an unconventional path, filled with a career in healthcare administration, I started Garden & Grace during covid as a creative outlet and with no real business plan. But as the daughter of a home builder and a lifelong architecture enthusiast (heightened by my time living in Birmingham, AL and Chicago, IL), I’ve always loved everything about a home and what it represents. Almost 4 years later,  I still pinch myself that I get to share this passion with the Garden & Grace community. You recently redecorated your son’s room. Walk us through the design process!  We moved into our home two years ago, right before I had my third, and my oldest son’s bedroom was such an afterthought. I knew I would want to go back and give him a proper room and finally got around to it just shy of his 6th birthday! I started with combing through inspiration I had saved through the years and noticed  a recurring theme of Americana-style rooms. So I started with a framed vintage American flag and tattersall rug, two quintessential design elements to define the room.  I used those elements to select the fabric for my son’s  Coley Home headboards and from there layered on bedding, lighting and other decor.  Get the Look The Twin Crown Headboard - Charles in Nola, Blue with Belgian Linen, Dark Blue Welt Shop Now What advice do you have for anyone who might be in the process of redecorating a kids’ room?  Designed by Clary Bosbyshell Start with the pieces that you can’t stop thinking about and build your design from there. And don’t get caught up in creating the perfect room with everything you see in a room on Instagram or Pinterest. Most are staged and designed without a budget. Remember, kids will use their room so design it with that in mind! Finding a reliable contact for a home project can be challenging. How do you go about sourcing professionals for your Trusted List of Home Experts? Designed by Anne Pearson Design, Photography by Dustin Peck Photography The Garden & Grace Directory was born out of the constant request from followers for good, reliable home professionals in their cities. It’s now a trusted source with over 45 professionals recommended by a trusted designer, friend or that I’ve personally used. It’s all about curating a mix of professionals for any project all that exemplify honesty, quality work and align with the Garden & Grace style. It’s still new (just over a year old!) so I’m excited to see how it continues to grow and be a trusted source for home projects. Interested companies can apply here. What is your most requested product from your followers? Designed by Whitney Sturge Interiors, Photography by Dustin Peck Photography Lighting! Whether a side table lamp, pleated lamp shade or pendants over a kitchen island, it’s a popular topic and one I love to share!  What are your favorite areas to splurge when decorating your home, and favorite places to save? Design by Caroline Gidiere Design Design by James Farmer Inc, Photography by Upholstery and rugs, hands down. I like to buy those new and to last. They anchor the room and everything else falls in around them. I usually source accessories and artwork from antique malls and estate sales – which can lead to some really good deals and unique pieces! Favorite spring recipe? My signature dish, year round but especially this time of year,  are deviled eggs. I add a touch of dijon mustard, finely chopped dill pickles and sprinkle with paprika to top them off.  They always go fast!

Design Tips for Banquettes

Design Tips for Banquettes

We are proud to offer three styles of banquettes: the Baxter, the Eloise, and the Sully. After several requests, we realized how hard banquettes are to find in the market. We hope this blog helps answer any questions you might have about ordering custom banquettes! How to measure for a banquette? Our upholstered banquettes are customizable down to the inch. The maximum length per piece is 95” but you can use several pieces to create a larger banquette. When measuring for a banquette you need to consider a few different things. If you need larger than 95", email hello@coleyhome.com and our team will see what we can do for you! 1. Your space? You want to make sure it fits your space well. Please review the spec sheets for the Baxter, Eloise, or Sully and make sure the depth and height work well in your space. It is also important to take into account the window height as well as leaving a few inches of extra room on each side. We recommend leaving 1.5” per side because every fabric is different and once a piece is fully upholstered it could be slightly larger. 2. How many people you would like to seat? You need around 21 inches per person 3. What table you are planning to use? An ideal table for a banquette has the supports in the middle so it is easier to get in and out. We would recommend the banquette going at least 15” past the table for easy entry. What fabric do you recommend for a banquette? We asked our founder, Coley, what she recommends for banquettes: "I would recommend a performance fabric for an upholstered banquette bench. A vinyl is your most durable option. Our Haynes, Goldie, & Ostrich fabric lines are wonderful vinyl options that are easy to wipe clean. You can filter on our swatch page to only see vinyls! Our indoor/outdoor fabric, Poole, comes in 4 different colors and is also a great option for a dining banquette. We also have several other performance options, including Rattan, Nomad, Beckett, and Nolan. As pretty as white is, even if it is a performance fabric, I would recommend staying away for a dining banquette." How to style your banquette?  Pillows on an upholstered banquette really pull together the look. On cornering banquettes, we recommend using a Box Pillow and a Kidney Pillow in the corner. This will make it more comfortable for the person who is sitting in the corner as well. For the Sully Banquette, you can do 2 Box Pillows on either side. You can also add one Kidney Pillow to place on your preferred side. Pillows are a good opportunity to play around with fun prints! A few tables we love: Trick: We love 27-28” table height for a low loungy dining area and a standard 29” for a more formal setting.

Tell us about yourself  & how you got where you are today! After working in the corporate world for 6 years and trying out a few different jobs here and there, I decided to jump into the design world when we moved to Nashville. It all started with one investment property to build a portfolio and quickly turned into a business model of remodeling high end homes in the area to preserve and build a Nashville full of character. How would you describe your aesthetic? Influenced by my love for the English countryside and antiques, I strive for a timeless philosophy that will stand the test of time while also feeling like home. I love a blend of rustic and luxury to create an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable space full of character and depth; dark woods, ethereal patterns, worn in leathers and neutrals.  You recently selected the Slipcovered Camden Dining Chair in Casual, Dune - Walk us through the design process! I wanted a desk chair that was comfortable but also looked like it could anchor a space and bring a pop of luxury to my vintage dining table desk. I loved the slope arm of the Camden Dining Chair immediately and knew it would bring a soft luxury to my work space. Shop Now *Casual, Dune has been discontinued from our line. We’ve loved following along with your current home renovations! What has been your favorite room to design? The most recent project I did was a smaller home where we didn’t add any square footage, but instead were able to relocate the kitchen and open up the old living room to create a completely open concept living+kitchen area. I love using existing footprints to their absolute potential and this was the perfect example of why small old houses like The Manor Cottage don’t have to be torn down, but instead can be given a completely new updated life to fit the needs of the modern family.  What are your favorite areas to splurge when decorating your home, and favorite places to save? I always splurge on lighting and countertops. I think that unique and high end lighting can make an entire room feel nicer and give it style while less interesting or cheaper light fixtures can give the opposite effect. And countertops are something many people look past, but you’ll never find a plain white quartz countertop in any of my projects. There are too many good ones out there these days that give the look of a stone and that can give a guest room a touch of luxury that will last for years to come.  Congratulations on your little one on the way! We can’t wait to see the final product - Is there a specific piece you’re designing the nursery around? I immediately knew I wanted a staple piece for the changing table, so after months and months of searching I found the perfect vintage dresser that, for now, will have the changing table kit adorned with some brass sconces and vintage equestrian artwork. My goal is for this piece to stay in our son’s room for years to come, acting as a side table between twin beds and beyond!  What is your current favorite paint color? I am absolutely loving Sherwin Williams Ethereal Mood right now! It’s a beautiful soft dark(ish) green that is a lovely natural color complimentary to the ever popular Farrow & Ball Pigeon. I’m actually including it as custom cabinet colors in our newest project in the scullery and mudroom that I cannot wait to see come to life. Favorite book or TV show at the moment? My husband just finished the newest season of Slow Horses and per usual, it was amazing. Unfortunately most of the books that I’ve read lately are pregnancy or newborn related so not as entertaining as usual, but one of my favorite books from earlier this year was The Women by Kristin Hannah. I have read all of her books and every single one of them has made an impact, whether leaving me in tears, or leaving me wishing the book didn’t end!

I’m so thankful for the wonderful friends and brands that I’ve met and worked with along the way! Having young (precious) children, what do you find helps you be able to relax?  At the end of a busy day I love being able to unwind in our home. Whether that’s curled up on the couch for family movie night, a hot cup of tea, a book and a cozy blanket, or having friends over for dinner on the porch, nothing brings me more joy than being surrounded by those I love and entertaining at home. What is the most requested product from your followers? Not a product exactly, but I’m always sharing what I’m cooking for the week that’s quick and healthy. Weeknight dinner ideas are easily one of my most asked questions and something I love sharing!  You recently selected the Biggie Swivel in Luxe Velvet, Olive with a Belgian Linen, Oatmeal Welt  - Walk us through the design process! We have a very long living room, so I knew I needed to be strategic with seating. Our tv is on one end of the room, while the couch and fireplace are in the middle. I loved the idea of having a swivel chair where guests could either be by the fireplace/couch for conversations there, or turn towards the television if needed. The velvet fabric and colorway brings such a great texture and warmth to the space and I’m always a fan of a contrasting welt to make a piece extra special. It’s the little details that make the difference! Get the Look  in Luxe Velvet, Olive with Belgian Linen, Oatmeal Welt and Weathered Oak Base What are your favorite areas to splurge when decorating your home, and favorite places to save? Splurge – comfortable, high quality upholstered furniture. You can always re-cover down the road if you want to! Coley Home Spotlight: Mycah Hunter

Meet Mycah, a lifestyle content creator with the sweetest family and style! We love all that she shares, from decorating her Southern home to timeless, feminine style. Read on to learn more about Mycah and how she styled her Coley Home piece.  Tell us about yourself! Hi! I’m Mycah! A grateful wife to my college sweetheart and mother to two precious littles. We live in a charming Southern town filled with moss-covered canopy roads, beautiful rolling hills and old plantations. Most often you’ll find me cooking something healthy in the kitchen, clipping flowers in the garden or dreaming up ways to make our home a beautiful and inviting space! You recently added a pair of our Charli Swivels in Luxe Velvet, Mushroom to your family room. Walk us through the design process of the room! I wanted the room to feel cozy, charming and elegant. My designer, Mackenzie Page Interiors, and I chose a timeless Colefax & Fowler blue trellis wallpaper to anchor the room. From there, we really leaned into my love of florals and incorporated a beautiful Lee Jofa chintz for the drapes. I knew I wanted to do something more neutral and cozy for the chairs and couldn’t be happier with our selection of the Charli Swivels. They are beyond comfortable, the shape is stunning and their juxtaposition to the ultra feminine wallpaper and drapes creates the perfect balance in the room. Get the Look in Luxe Velvet, Mushroom with Reynolds, Pewter Welt We've enjoyed keeping up with the renovations on your new house. What has been your favorite and/or most challenging part of the process? My favorite part is getting to dream up ways to make each room a beautiful space. Looking at wallpaper and fabric samples truly brings me so much joy! As far as challenging, I love to cook so being without a kitchen for the last several months while we renovate has been tough. It will all be worth it though! Favorite areas to splurge when sourcing for a home, and favorite places to save? My advice is to create a solid foundation so you’re not redesigning everything from scratch in five years. Invest/splurge on furniture that lasts (like Coley!). Save on accessories like rugs, pillows, lamps, etc. Those are easier to swap when your tastes change. You have such timeless taste. What are your go to places for inspiration? Timeless is always the goal for me! I draw a lot of inspiration from both English and Southern style. In both, the exterior gardens influence much of the interior style and as a lover of florals this speaks to me. For daily inspiration, I follow a lot of interior designers on Instagram and am always saving photos. I also still use Pinterest regularly. Favorite summer recipe (dish or cocktail, your choice!) I love a watermelon feta salad in the summertime! Favorite coffee table book at the moment? Home At Last by Gil Shafer Favorite Instagram follows? I’m really enjoying @themomentsofjane’s content right now. Her cooking videos are so relaxing and she just seems so lovely! Dream travel destination? The Cotswolds Favorite book or TV show at the moment? I recently started Kristy Woodson Harvey’s “Peachtree Bluff” book series and am hooked!

Coley Home Spotlight: Becky Malinsky

Meet Becky! Based in NYC, she's a fashion editor and stylist and she also does brand strategy. We love her newsletter, 5 Things You Should Buy, which always has great insights and finds! She's worked at WSJ, Glamour, & GQ, just to name a few, so her fashion knowledge is unbeatable. Read on to learn all about Becky and how she styled her Coley Home piece! Tell us about yourself and how you got to where you are today! I’m a stylist and writer based in NYC, where I live with my husband and son. New York has felt like home since the moment I first visited. I packed up and moved here right after college (20 years ago now, oye!) and worked my way up from Lucky Magazine fashion assistant to, many years later, Deputy Fashion Director at The Wall Street Journal. Between those I held editor and styling positions at GQ, W and Glamour with some special projects along the way. Now I run an executive styling company, helping men and women get dressed confidently for work. I also write the newsletter 5 Things You Should Buy which attempts to take the doom scrolling out of your online shopping.  Can you share any “pinch me” moments while styling VIP’s? I’ve had so many. I love my work and every client that walks away confident and happy makes me feel…confident and happy! When I was a stylist assistant at GQ a celebrity once asked me on a date, specifically for tacos. That was funny. And I’ve dressed clients for divorce court and Davos. Both of these clients told me how good they felt during these important events, and those were pinch me moments - that my idea, to specifically help people feel confident and fantastic everyday, not just on special occasions, was working. What piece of clothing or accessory do you get asked about the most? Tops!! I am always asked for easy tops to pair with jeans or a favorite pair of black pants. The idea of something more special than a t-shirt and something less fussy than a button down. I’m on the eternal hunt for stellar, wearable, non-button-down tops! You recently selected the Bryant Sofa in Mohair, Mink for your living room - Walk us through the design process!  I knew I wanted a mohair sofa, and so was researching companies that worked in this fabric. I was so happy when Ariel Okin told me to look into Coley Home and you offered the fabric. I love the texture and the durability. So I started with material first, and looked at sofas that were offered in this fabric. I live in NYC so our living room doubles as an entertaining space, play room, snack center, movie theater, etc.  Our furniture is used heavily! I wanted something that felt durable but also had super clean lines so the space would feel open and tidy (when all the toys were put away!) I loved the simplicity of the Bryant and also the raised, upholstered legs, so I didn’t have to choose a wood that might not match with the rest of the decor. Also, the slightly lowered arm rests were something I was looking for. Our last sofa had super high arms and it felt too closed off to pile people onto it. Also, this makes a great headrest for afternoon naps. :)  Choosing the color was so hard. I initially loved Golden Hour, but I had just put up Soane Britain’s Wilton Vine wallpaper in Old Gold and I have original 1960s parquet flooring throughout my home, so I got nervous everything would start to look too…yellow. I finally decided on Mink because I loved the brown undertones in the gray which fit in nicely with my 1968 built apartment and the color was dark enough to withstand my toddler. I strongly feel that you need to consider your space before your personal aesthetic to make a space feel functional and comfortable. So I leaned into mid century design when choosing the elements of my living room, while trying to keep it feeling fully functional for today and at the same time trying to avoid trendy catalog tropes. This meant keeping everything very low (I have no tall bookcases or millwork) and at the same time raised off of the ground. The media unit under the TV is raised, as are the legs on the loveseat and the Bryant sofa. Being able to see clean floors and clean lines along the walls from the entryway to the windows helps make the space feel bigger and more open. Given that we have standard 8’ ceilings, I needed all the air I could get over and under! I also have some inherited antiques from my in-laws who have great taste, but veer more French antique and I love the juxtaposition of the Bryant, a very modern sofa, next to their Louis VIX folding game table, which I use as an end table, and loveseat, which I reupholstered in a thick black and cream Clermont ticking stripe to make it feel a bit more graphic in the space while staying true to the piece’s roots. Get the Look:  3 over 3 in Mohair, Mink Shop Now How would you describe your style and aesthetic? My sister in law once came over for dinner and flipped over the plain white plate I set at the table to see they were Bernaurdaud. I use my fine china from my wedding registry everyday. I live in NYC, who has room for two sets!? She laughed and said, you just love beautiful stuff, huh? I don’t consider myself to be squarely of one design or fashion aesthetic but I’m a researcher. I love discovering new shapes and ideas and I gravitate toward interesting design.  One word that is super important to me both in my home space and my style is function. I want everything to have purpose or to me, it is just clutter. So I always start there and look for the most interesting and perfect versions of themselves no matter if I’m looking at a sofa or black boots.  What are your favorite pieces to splurge on and save on when styling? In terms of design, I say splurge on the one thing that will make you happy to look at everyday. I recently reupholstered my grandmother’s bedroom corner chair in Decor Barbares Ete Moscovite. It has been my favorite fabric for so long and I’ve always pined for it. When I got the estimate of how many yards I needed and the price per yard I almost fell over. But as I was trying to look for alternates, everything else made me feel incomplete. This is a piece of furniture that is the first thing I see when I wake up everyday. Every time I walk into my bedroom it makes me so happy. So when you know something is THE THING, get the thing you want, enjoy it, and budget elsewhere.  I budget on carpet. You don’t need the fanciest carpet when going wall to wall. Home Depot makes great 100% wool options and you can find remnants at smaller carpeting stores in your area, which I did for my son’s room for pennies on the dollar. As far as fashion advice goes, splurge on the boring stuff. What I mean is, the nice t-shirt or the high quality silk shell under the blazer will make you look much more put together than buying a super expensive blazer and then budgeting on the layers. I often tell clients it's really about putting together a full look and I am here to help them with the un-exciting purchases.  That said, a great fitting pant, in a great fabric is a must. And in the same vein as my design ethos, I do think its better to just get the thing you want if there is one very specific thing that you know is perfect and not try to replicate it at budget. Obviously, we can’t do this for everything, but if that one jacket has the perfect collar, the perfect color, the perfect snaps, the perfect armhole, just get it and wear it to death! Same with the sofa. I am so glad I went with mohair even though velvet would have been slightly less expensive. The mohair is exactly what I wanted, and I will use it everyday, enjoy it and like it longer. I tend to encourage saving/budgeting on occasion wear that you will wear once or twice. I love to hunt evening wear on The RealReal and ReSee Paris. I’d much rather you buy the cashmere t-shirt and black pants that are clearly well tailored and you will wear once or twice a week. What upcoming fall trends are you most excited about? I’m so excited about this return to super ladylike dressing this fall. Of course, everything that comes back around is always slightly different. I love that Prada showed silk bloomers under the 1950s inspired dresses they showed and right now I’m playing with all kinds of layers to see how I want to translate that trend into real life. I also loved the Bottega Veneta show. Really rich browns and black paired back to beautiful shades of blue and red. Lots of volume and proportions to get me stirring and thinking about what layering should look like now. I love fall, a time I get to dig out my sweaters and coats and start to really play with clothes again. What’s your dream travel destination? India! I’m desperate to see the palaces of Jaipur and Udaipur and the Gem Palace! Do you have a favorite book or TV show at the moment? My favorite book is Pachinko, which I read a few years ago when it came out but has always stuck with me. I just finished Kristin Hannah’s The Women which I couldn’t put down and I’m about to start Liars by Sarah Manguso.  As far as TV, new episodes of Industry can’t come soon enough!

Coley Home Spotlight: Stephanie Molster

Meet Stephanie! Based in Charleston, SC, she creates stunning spaces that mix classic charm with modern style. We love her playful use of color and pattern to craft fun, personalized designs that fit her clients perfectly! Tell us about yourself! I started my design firm, Stephanie Molster Interiors, a little over a decade ago after moving from NYC to Charleston. From my years of experience working in NYC, my goal was to offer a unique perspective by elegantly infusing traditional and modern elements into each of my designs. I love finding the harmony between beauty, sophistication, and function in order to not only give my clients what they want, but also what they need! How would you describe your design style? Fresh, refined, and client-driven. You did such a wonderful job incorporating pieces that complemented such a historic room in the Aiken Rhett Vignette. Walk us through the design process! When envisioning the design for this room, I aimed to evoke a sense of regal opulence, elegance, and sophistication. The initial inspiration stemmed from the museum’s magnificent wooden sleigh bed dating back to the 1820s, which served as the perfect foundation for my design. To elevate its importance, I crafted a grand canopy that gracefully enveloped the bed's frame. I chose a monochromatic floral fabric that exuded femininity and refinement, which created a striking contrast against the raw historic walls of the room. I wanted to incorporate these soft layered elements to further enhance the natural beauty of the bedroom in a harmonious juxtaposition. Get the Look: The Toddy Swivel in Luxe Velvet, Olive with Luxe Velvet, Shadow Welt What are some of your go to spots in Charleston? The list is long! I love Elizabeth Stuart, Fritz Porter, Seventeen South Antiques and Wynsum Antiques. I am also very excited about a new store that just opened downtown called Wentworth, which is a treasure trove of beautifully curated items. Favorite areas to splurge when designing a home, and favorite places to save? My favorite items to splurge on are lighting and hardware. Great lighting can set the entire tone and mood of a room, while hardware is like jewelry – it’s the final detail that can truly elevate a space. Favorite paint color at the moment? Farrow & Ball’s “Brinjal.” The rich aubergine color is to die for! Wallpaper you are dying to use in a project? “Berry & Grove” by Schumacher. The colors are so fun, and it would be so chic in a Mud Room or Butler’s Pantry What has been your biggest challenge as a designer? While the internet has been an incredible tool in helping bring amazing resources to our fingertips, I have found it also proves to be a challenge in getting clients to focus on their own specific needs. With so much visual content available, clients often get swayed and start making changes once a project has started causing pesky delays. Go-to places for design inspiration? Books and traveling to new destinations. Favorite coffee table book? The Well-Loved House by Ashley Whittaker and Home by D. Stanley Dixon Dream travel destination? I would LOVE to go to Greece one day!
